Augury is bit a risky job, but this is what analysis is; another form of augury. With so many complex and intricate terms pertaining to different levels of web design, we now need to be observant about every minuscule change in the web development world. Web design is not what it was a few years ago, it has evolved a lot and has delved deeper into a layered architecture for enhancing the user experience. For those who develop to carve a niche are more dedicated towards finding ever changing and invasive technology.
With so many ideas coming with the drop of hat, some become luminary and some fade away like a snowflake. What I can see is that people are open to the inventiveness which several ingenious brains are fostering . Hence, it gives birth to all emerging new trends in web designs or rather delivering the best user experience. In this blog we will discuss some trends for coming future.
Stress on individuality
The biggest bottleneck in using the prevalenttrends in design is that they lack individuality. Any website following a patter will feel no difference apart from some minor mutations in the images or hues used in the website. This can be the ill effects of mass acceptance to these design trends. The front runners of these trends have certainly achieved great heights as the trend is penetrating deeper.
Whilst this monotony is going to break in coming future with increase in custom elements and specifically built animations. This has resulted due to the minimal CSS3, HTML5 and java script libraries that we have for animation. In design there is no single remedy for this so most of the executions will require a strategic planning and efforts.
Growth of ‘flat’ design
The modern web design clan has adopted the flat design as the new design standard and have abandoned the gradients. Though there was not much pondering over before adopting the new trend, it might be just that they were bored of watching gradient design. Though, it is simple, as we now choose one color for one complete element.
Adoption of flat design in Android 5 and iOS 7 brought this design trend in the main stream and it was received by designing community. Further, it was Android, which has contributed a lot for the adoption of flat design or material design not only for mobile apps but for desktop applications as well. Along with this the ‘card’ concept was well adopted and converting trivial stuff such as white space was stressed.
Motion works or animations and intentions were articulately used along with them to give a layered look to the apps.
The reason behind adopting the card layout was to make the content more palatable and approachable to the users. This trend will certainly here to stay, but will adeptly mutate in the coming future. Material design is yet to capture the desktop screens while it is performing really better for the small screens. Further, the usage of whitespaces will take new terms and gain more popularity.
Micro Interactions
Micro experience or refining experiences is what I believe is the name of this new trend. Now apps contain their self-contained workflows which eventually occur when you interact with the app.
Let’s say that you have 4-5 menu items which further proceeds to various other interactions. These interactions further grow once you trigger it.
Irrespective of the simplicity or complexity of these interactions their main motive is to simplify the initial process by fragmenting it into chunks. This has further obliterated the need of scrolling and changing of pages. These interactions or cards have self contained showcases for a particular business area.
Page with less height
Though scrolling is the prevalent trend, but web users need pages with less page height. Though people think that the clicking will be completely replaced by scrolling in the coming future but endless scrolling will give a bad user experience. It is a personal opinion that scrolling is good at a certain extent but making a complete scrollable site is still not palatable for me. So, I believe that websites with lesser page height will come in trend.
Advanced Typography
Presenting content on web pages is gaining more importance. Web typography now needs more attention due the experience it delivers to the users. Google has launched numerous fonts which have liberated web designers to use the wide pool of font styles, wherefore they are not confined to compatibility limitations.
Typography will receive more attention in the coming future and designers will carefully choose their fonts, font color, font size and their weight. Designers who stay abreast with technology have already started using this but this trend will see a mass adoption in the coming future. Though, you might be considering it a meager thing but you can get to know about it only by reading about its cognitive impact. This further plays a crucial role in getting good user engagement for your website and better conversion.
Final thoughts
Web as aptly names is interconnected to each other. This is why each and every factor contribute to one common goal – high conversion. This is further is contingent upon various factors which provide a niche users experience. With the advancement in the design centric technology , web design trends will certainly be given more importance in the coming future and we will get to see some of the marvels.
